US Election: I believe that Kamala’s gender played a part in her loss – Ben Ephson

Veteran Ghanaian-based pollster, Ben Ephson has argued that Kamala Harris’s female gender may have played an important role in her inability to win the just-ended US elections.

In an interview with Johhny Hughes and Helen Ampofo on 3FM Sunrise, the pollster mentioned that he expected a smaller margin between former President Trump and the incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris.

“I am not surprised by Trump’s victory; I had an idea Trump was likely to win, only that the margin was far bigger than I thought. The US talks about equality and so on. I believe that Kamala’s gender played a part in her loss. The gap was wide and even though I suspected Trump to win, I expected a closer contest. I think it will take some years in developed countries, especially the US for a female candidate of one of the two big parties to be elected President.” The pollster argued.

Meanwhile, Ben Ephson has doubted any correlation between US elections and that of Ghana.

Meanwhile, Ben Ephson has doubted any correlation between US elections and that of Ghana.

“I have never seen any correlation between the US and Ghanaian polls, because if someone has made up his or her mind that he is not voting for Mahama and the NDC, the person will not change because former President Trump has come back. I have never seen that correlation and I don’t think it will happen this time around.” Ben Ephson emphasized.

The United States has just had another successful poll, with former President Trump being handed the key to the Oval Office after he was kicked out in 2020.
